Stu is considered by many to the greatest No Limit Hold em Poker gambler ever.

The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in 1953 and started playing poker before reaching his teens.

The young gambler began betting gin and at the age of 10 had won his primary gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the little poker genius had turned professional and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu entered the history books by winning $10,000 in a gin rummy tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still stands in New York these days.

The quick talking superstar has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic greats such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Stu Ungar had a real ability for wagering poker except regardless of his achievements in Hold’em poker, he preferred playing gin.

Stu once said that there may a few day be a improved No Limit Holdem gambler than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a greater gin player.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the finest Texas hold’em Poker gamblers in the planet when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the first time. Extraordinarily it was the very first time he had played in the tournament.
