Seems like most individuals are always talking about pre-flop strategy, so I wanted to speak a bit about how I wager on immediately after the flop. Maybe I can support others, or possibly they have advice to improve my play.
I consider that two of the most important plays after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive wager. That is because these are the plays you produce once you havent hit a hand except you’ve got a good drawing hand. Its easy to bet on a hand whenever you flop a monster. Except I consider that these 2 are the very best ways to bet on a drawing. Each one is wagered depending on you competition(s) and your postion. So here’s how I play it, so tell me what you think.
Early Position – Tight Opponents:
A semi-bluff works fairly nicely in this position. Arrive out gambling and if a tight player did not hit a hand he’ll most likely lay down, and if he is unsure you might have a call. But watch out, if that tight player comes back over the best it might be time to have away.
Early Location – Loose Opponents
This can be were I like to complete a defensive bet. Make a decision how quite a few chips you’re willing to chance on your draw and bet. This can be usually a much lower wager than regular. It’s been my encounter that the loose gambler will usually just call a wager rather than re-raise. It is were I usually determine to take a chance and appear back over the top of them and pray they do not call, and if they do, effectively then its time to gamble. Chances are though even a loose player will go away in the event you are available back strong enough.
Remember though that these are moves I only make soon after the flop comes and I have a respectable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Possibly four to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
