Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
