Online poker has become globally famous recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years many types on the original poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers wager against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer announcing "No more wagers." At that instance, both you and the bank and of course every one of the other players are given five cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s first card, you have to either make a call bet or accede. The call bet’s amount is akin to your original wager, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your bet goes instantly to the dealer. After the bet is the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, plus an amount on par with the ante. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The house pays out money equal to your original bet and fixed odds on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
