Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the normal 52-card common deck and one joker. The gambler is given seven cards face up and the croupier is given 7 cards faces hidden.
One 5 card hand and a two card hand have to be put together from the seven cards, the five card hand has to be higher than the 2 card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand values to be higher than the houses.
