Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most complicated but favored poker variations. It’s a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant variation, has grown in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha/8 begins like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A round of wagering follows where gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are given out, this is known as the flop. Another round of wagering happens. After all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of wagering ensues and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will have to put together the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where a few players get baffled. Contrasted to Holdem, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must utilize exactly 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the best possible hand out of everyone’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the very same notion in just about every poker game.

The lower hand is more complex, but really free’s up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand takes the whole pot.

It may seem complex at the outset, following a few rounds you will be agile enough to get the basic subtleties of play with ease. Seeing as you have individuals betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at the same time, Omaha hi-low provides an overwhelming range of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have several individuals battling for the high hand, along with a few battling for the low hand. If you love a game with a lot of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha hi-low.
