Poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years numerous variations on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no conniving or other kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the croupier announcing "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the house and of course all of the different players are given 5 cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the dealer’s 1st card, you must either make a call wager or accede. The call wager’s amount is akin to your original wager, meaning that the risks will have doubled. Bowing out means that your wager goes immediately to the bank. After the bet comes the face off. If the house does not have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, with a figure equal to the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the casino’s hand. The bank pays chips equal to your wager and controlled expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
